FROM DARK PEAK PHOTO:

“Welcome to the Dark Peak Photo Festival

For this edition of Dark Peak Photo Festival, artists will respond to the theme of IDENTITY – The theme invites photographers to explore the complexities of identity through their lens. This exhibition seeks to uncover the diverse layers of individual experiences, beliefs, and perceptions, capturing the multifaceted nature of what it means to be human.

As part of the Dark Peak Photo Festival, visitors can experience a series of exhibitions, including work by Adam Docker, alongside a programme of workshops.

Adam will be running a sold out workshop on 21 February titled Cinematic Portraits.

This half day session is designed for confident photographers who want to bring more atmosphere, movement and emotional depth into their portrait work. Over four hours, Adam explores how light, framing and timing shape the emotional impact of an image. Working with a model, participants focus on developing a cinematic way of seeing, responding to subtle shifts in expression and composition rather than relying on rigid setups.

The workshop covers working with available light, introducing flash as a subtle tool to shape mood, and briefly explores movement and slow shutter techniques to add energy and feeling. Shooting time, discussion and feedback are built into the session, leaving participants with a stronger creative direction and renewed confidence in their work.”
