Most of these portraits were never planned. They were created through chance encounters. Sometimes I have only a fleeting moment. Other times we spend time talking before I ever raise the camera. I may guide someone into the light or suggest a place to stand, but beyond that I try not to force my own ideas onto them. I'm interested in what they choose to give back in that moment.

A portrait can never tell the whole story. It offers only a single moment, inviting us to imagine everything that exists beyond the frame. The people in these photographs come from different countries, cultures and walks of life, but each image begins the same way: with a meeting between two strangers. What you bring to the photograph becomes part of its story too.
