“ At the end of a long day filming in Cojímar, just outside Havana, I noticed a boy on a rooftop releasing his pigeons . This stretch of coastline is where Ernest Hemingway once spent time with local fishermen and wrote The Old Man and the Sea.
I climbed up to join him. As the sky burned with the last colours of sunset, he reached out and let one of the birds go. The silhouette felt like it could be considered a gesture of freedom and hope.”
