“ At the end of a long day filming in Cojímar, just outside Havana, I noticed a boy on a rooftop releasing his pigeons . This stretch of coastline, where Ernest Hemingway once spent time with local fishermen and wrote The Old Man and the Sea, carries a quiet sense of history, but in that moment it was all about something really simple.
I climbed up to join him. As the sky burned with the last colours of sunset, he reached out and let one of the birds go. His silhouette, suspended between earth and sky, felt like it could be considered a gesture of freedom and hope.”
