“ I photographed this Joshua Tree at dawn in the Mojave Desert after waking in my camper van to the first light spilling across the landscape. The Mormons once believed these strange, sculptural trees resembled the prophet Joshua with arms raised in praise. This one felt like it had reached the end of its worship, its twisted limbs frozen in a final gesture.
