Every photograph has a story and sometimes, the moments before the shutter clicks are just as powerful as the image itself. In this series, Adam shares the stories behind some of my most memorable photos, the places, the people, the chaos, the quiet, and the unexpected encounters that shaped each frame.

    A night at Trona Pinnacles

The Trona Pinnacles feel like another planet. Rising out of the California desert like the remains of an ancient civilisation, these strange limestone towers have been used in countless sci-fi films over the years, but nothing prepares you for seeing them in person. I drove out there alone during a five day road trip across the California desert. There’s something cinematic about the isolation of the place. You feel completely disconnected from the modern world. As the light changes throughout the day, the pinnacles almost seem to transform with it, shifting from soft pale tones into something darker and more dramatic by sunset. This film is a reflection on that journey and the strange beauty of the desert, a place that feels both empty and alive at the same time. Filmed and photographed in May 2022

Photographing the Eagle Hunters of Kyrgystan

High in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan, I spent several days living among the Eagle Hunters a people whose bond with their golden eagles has endured for centuries. I’ve always dreamed of photographing this tradition since I was a child.
This short film offers a glimpse behind the lens, a journey into their world.

    Iran

In 2001, I travelled to Iran to film a documentary on world football and found a country of immense warmth, history, and contradictions. Despite an unexpected arrest, the experience left a lasting impression.
